Description
This Spalding baseball scorebook belonged to a fan from eastern upstate New York near the Adirondack mountains. Beginning in 1921 and 1922, several games were scored for the local baseball team, Wells, against various local opponents. The opponents included: Gloversville, Elmwood, Johnstown, The Red Men, Fraternal Order of Eagles, Amsterdam Apples Smashers, Piseco and Levories. In 1925, three Washington VS Pittsburgh world series games were apparently attended and scored, including Game 4, Walter Johnson's only World Series shut out game winning 4 to 0 over Pittsburgh. This game is completely scored including the back to back home runs that won the game for the Senators. They were given up by Pirates pitcher Emil Yde, who was at that time the only pitcher in WS history to give up back to back home runs. Games 5 and 6 of the series are also scored. The book is in great condition with tight binding and no missing pages. It measures 5 1/2" by 7 1/2". Inquiries welcome. A great piece of Washington Senators history.
