Description
This is an original issue of the New York Tribune, June 30, 1905.
Coverage of the NY Giants game in which Archibald Graham
made his only appearance in a major league game.
Of course, this is "Moonlight Graham" made famous by the Kevin Costner film "Field of Dreams."
Graham finally was put in the lineup on June 29, 1905 as a defensive replacement.
This turned out to be his only major league game, and he never got to bat.
Here is the famous quote from the movie:
"Well, you know I... I never got to bat in the major leagues. I would have liked to have had that chance. Just once. To stare down a big league pitcher. To stare him down, and just as he goes into his windup, wink. Make him think you know something he doesn't. That's what I wish for. Chance to squint at a sky so blue that it hurts your eyes just to look at it. To feel the tingling in your arm as you connect with the ball. To run the bases - stretch a double into a triple, and flop face-first into third, wrap your arms around the bag. That's my wish, Ray Kinsella. That's my wish. And is there enough magic out there in the moonlight to make this dream come true?"

This newspaper is in fair condition considering it's age.
The edges are brittle and you will have to handle it with care when turning the pages.
I would recommend framing it or even laminating to preserve and to limit handling.
You will notice some uneven borders, some chips, minor tears, discoloration, etc.
but these things do not affect the coverage of the NY Giants.
Please do not expect a MINT condition newspaper.  This is not even close.
However, it is the only one you may ever see again.
