    Description

    1952 Studebaker Pickup dump truck
    NO RESERVE!
Wow!  What a unique old truck.  This one happens to be the loaded up, luxury version, farm truck.  If you look closely at the pictures, this truck has a radio, a steering column flashlight holder, with flashlight, and AC/DC converter to plug in a 120v device, and an actual Studebaker tissue holder!  These have to be fairly rare items, especially on a farm used dump truck!
We have a lot of fun digging up these old trucks and getting them running again, but this one has been especially fun.  Everyone that sees it has a comment about it, or wants to know what it is, it truly turns heads.
The old Studebaker is really a solid old truck, a little rust in a couple of spots, but not much.  Frame is rock solid, floors are good, just a little in cab corners, maybe a spot or 2 in the fenders.
It had sat for probably 20 years when we picked it up.  I was told the original owner used this to haul wheat to town during harvest, 60 bushel at a time.  That would make for a long harvest!  We did the usual of draining gas, cleaning the points, and checking/filling fluids.  The truck starts, runs, drives, and sounds great.  The transmission is non synchronized, so you will get to practice double clutching!  All the gears work, the brakes, however, don't.  I put brake fluid in the master cylinder and pumped them up, and they try to work - but they will definitely need some attention.  The water pump also leaks, but truck runs cool and smooth if you keep it full of antifreeze.  It will need a water pump.  The wiring will also need a little attention as the cloth insulation is old and coming off.  Basically, a running, driving project, that you can spend some time on in your garage, and have a daily driver!
Maybe the best thing about this truck is the hydraulic dump bed, and instead of adding a different box, they did a great job of using the original bed.  Perfect for hauling tree limbs, grass clippings, etc.  You will be the envy of all your neighbors!  This is, simply put, just a real fun project vehicle.
