Description
This original1939 NEW YORK WORLD'S FAIR SCRAPBOOK
is filled with
CINCINNATI REDS
newspaper clippings covering the team during their pennant-winning season. These are not game result box scores, but rather they are large profiles, pictures and features by hometown ENQUIRER & POST reporters with photos from Spring Training on. The All-Star Game was in Cincinnati in 1939, and about the only thing in the book not about the Reds is coverage of the tragic announcement of LOU GEHRIG's retirement due to illness. The clippings end in early September as the Reds close in on the pennant; alas, there is no World Series coverage. This HUGE scrapbook contains 112 pages ~ and none are empty; in fact, there are several items inside the back cover that have not been glued in!
The scrapbook itself is 10 3/4" wide and 15 1/4" tall, and it is about 1 1/4" thick! The cover is popped loose at the staples.
See photos for a closer look. A labor of love, completed 82 years ago!
